The ruins of the tomb in the 21st century.
The Tomb of Athena was a building constructed within the mountains outside of the City of the Gods on Kobol.
History[]
The tomb is written about in the Book of Pythia, being the resting place of Athena, a Lord of Kobol who threw herself from the Gates of Hera during the exodus of the tribes. According to this text, it was the site of ritualistic human sacrifice, where the leader of each of the twelve tribes' leaders was made an offering to the gods.[1] Two thousand years following Kobol's abandonment, President Laura Roslin led an expedition in search of the tomb, which was said to lead the way to Earth. The location was discovered by way of an illusion generated by unknown means, which presented a star pattern and the Lagoon Nebula as a roadstop.[1]
Architecture[]
The tomb consisted of at least one large room, which consisted of twelve sarcophogi adorned with the icons of the twelve tribes. When the Arrow of Apollo was inserted into the hand of Sagittarius during the Roslin expedition, the door to the tomb was forced shut and a projection of grasslands was seen by those inside, with the pedestals replaced with twelve large slabs presenting the ancient symbols of the tribes with the ceiling projecting stars. Whether this was an advanced holographic projection created by the Kobolians or a vision by God is uncertain.[1]
