The The Stealthstar Incident[1] was a Colonial Fleet black-ops mission approximately one year before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. [2] While not directly contributing to the Cylon decision to genocide humankind, Admiral William Adama believes that such blatant disrespect for the Cimtar Peace Accord showed them, that humanity cannot be trusted and significantly contributed to the Fall.
Background[]
For 39 years, nobody heard of the Cylon, in its self-imposed isolation. The Colonial Fleet feared, that the Cylons were amassing a massive armada in preparation for a full-out assault against the Twelve Colonies. The Admiralty growing increasingly more restless with the Adar administration's pacifistic approach, decided to dispatch Battlestar Valkyrie, equipped with stealthstar reconnaissance craft, to ascertain the likelihood of a Cylon strike.[2]
Battle[]
After crossing a little over two kilometers into the Cylon space, the stealthstar piloted by Lt. Daniel "Bulldog" Novacek came under attack, when an unknown vessel jumped into proximity and immediately engaged. Sustaining heavy damage to the port engine, Novacek declared Krypter, Krypter, Krypter (a Colonial distress code), requesting a CSAR mission from the Valkyrie.
With two more Cylon vessels jumping into the theatre, Valkyries CO, Commander Adama ordered a ship-to-ship missile strike on the stealthstar destroying it in the process. Unknown to Commander Adama, Valkyrie, and the Colonial Fleet, Novacek managed to eject before impact, surviving the mission and falling into Cylon captivity.[2]
Aftermath[]
Approximately a year later, Cylons tried to test colonial defenses by crossing the border themselves and transmitting faint Colonial distress signals. The Colonial Fleet dispatched the Battlestar Chronos to investigate, leading to the Destruction of the Battlestar Chronos.[3]
