The Raid is an abandoned episode script for Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica. Its general idea of an episode focusing on the Cylon point-of-view makes it the precursor to "Downloaded".
Plot[]
The plot of "The Raid" was to have Galactica become aware of a Cylon space station and send out a raiding party to obtain its computer data. This related to the two-parter, "Home", where the Cylons were established to be more aware of Colonial scripture than the humans were and, therefore, had an advantage in finding Earth. Most of the episode was however to focus on the Cylons holding a conference to discuss how to finally wipe out humanity for good after a number of failures to take out Galactica. The boarding party was to be successful in their mission due to Caprica Six, who is having Baltar hallucinations, deciding to let them go.
Production[]
The idea of a Cylon POV episode came early in Season 2's pre-production, and parallels were drawn between the Cylons and the Nazis who held the Wannsee Conference to discuss the Final Solution of the Jewish Problem. However, the writers had problems with the A-plot, as the nuclear bombardment as seen in the Miniseries was itself the Final Solution.[1]
