Shelly Godfrey was a Humanoid Cylon of the Number Six model. She became part of a plot to discredit Dr. Gaius Baltar.

Biography[]

Godfrey was out to infiltrate colonial society, though it is uncertain what she did for this period. It is possible she wired herself in at some point to become aware of the experiences of the other Sixes, like Caprica Six, and while she would later claim to be a defence department worker it is plausible this was entirely a lie.

Godfrey ultimately escaped the Fall of the Twelve Colonies on board the Olympic Carrier, a passenger liner which was in orbit over Canceron at the time.[1] Here she became aware of Dr. Amarak and his suspicions the Command Navigation Program written by Dr. Balter had been hacked.[2] When Olympic Carrier escaped the Cyrannus Star System in a refugee fleet, Godfrey moved onto Galactica, where she joined a cell under the command of Galactica Cavil to plan out acts of violence[1]

When word got around Dr. Baltar had engineered a Cylon Detector which exposed a Number Five, Godfrey used her knowledge of Amarak to get to him, having the advantage because he would not be able to reveal why she could be a Cylon without exposing his relationship with Caprica Six.[1] With a quickly doctored photograph of Baltar carrying a bomb into the defence mainframe building on the day before the attack, Godfrey - now posing as Amorak's assistant - was able to directly meet with President Laura Roslin and Commander William Adama. While the evidence appeared plausible, it required confirmation by Lieutenant Felix Gaeta.[2]

During the wait Godfrey fell under suspicion of Adama, who ordered Marines to keep an eye on her should this be a deception.[2] Baltar would also confront her at a head and, despite her superior strength, Godfrey was unable to concentrate her abilities to push him away due to feelings for him. Soon, the evidence was confirmed to be a forgery, and Marines were ordered to detain her. Walking down a causeway, Godfrey was dragged away by Galactica Cavil, using another Six as a diversion and giving the impression she simply vanished.[2] Angry at her failure to kill Baltar when she had the chance, he rejected her wish to remain in the fleet under a new disguise, and was forced through an airlock with the sole command being to alert the Cylon fleet to their location.[1]
