(The reimagined series; Caprica and Blood & Chrome)
Rising Star was a civilian passenger vessel which escaped the Fall of the Twelve Colonies.
Biography[edit | edit source]
At the start of the Cylon attack, Rising Star was in orbit over Picon, and assisted the Colonial Fleet in picking up stranded refugees rescued from the surface on Evac Raptors. Among these survivors were Ellen Tigh and Galactica Cavil, with Tigh being treated in its sickbay with other refugees. Rising Star was aided by a Raptor crewed by Lt. Sharon "Boomer" Valerii, which sent jump coordinates to a refugee convoy let by President Laura Roslin. Not long after arrival, the fleet was discovered by a Raider patrol, and all FTL-capable ships - Rising Star included - jumped to the gas giant, Ragnar, to safety. Rising Star then left the Cyrannus system behind to follow the battlestar Galactica in its search for Earth.
Design[edit | edit source]
Rising Star was designed with a streamline approach to enable atmospheric flight, with ground-side civilian spaceports being commonplace in the 20th century. As a passenger transport, Rising Star was not built for long-term flight, and required periodic assistance from Galactica, including water replenishment. Like much of the fleet, Rising Star lacked any defence capabilities, and was a likely target for Cylon Raiders.
