Flight Corporal Rigel was a Galactica crewmember with responsibility as its air traffic controller, keeping shuttle and Viper flights to and from the ship free of collision hazards. In this role she assumed the identification over radio of "Galactica Core Control".[1]

- While still played by Sarah Rush, Rigel's appearance was changed between Saga of a Star World and the rest of the series, with her hair being made more unique to stand out. Due to re-use of footage, however, she appears in both hairstyles while prepping the Viper patrol launches in Lost Planet of the Gods.
- According to Ron Moore, producer of the 2004 Battlestar Galactica series, the character of Petty Officer Anastasia Dualla was built out of Rigel, though with the name changed.[2]
