President Richard Adar was the head of state of United Colonies of Kobol, and Commander-in-Chief of Colonial Fleet during the Fall of the Twelve Colonies.[1]
Biography[]
In the decade prior to the Fall of the Twelve Colonies, Adar was a mayor and held greater ambitions, eventually finding himself elected President. Two years prior to the fall, the Colonial military strong-armed him into greater funding, believing the Cylons were arming themselves for an offensive. He provided funding to Dr. Gaius Baltar, a celebrity IT researcher and proponent of networking, and from him came the Command Navigation Program. However, this work had been infiltrated by a Number Six, and the Cylons factored it into their planned attack.
When Picon Fleet Headquarters was destroyed in a surprise attack that saw the destruction of some thirty Battlestars, Adar offered an unconditional surrender to the Cylons. This surrender was ignored, and the nuclear bombardment of the Twelve Colonies continued, with Adar and nearly the entirety of his administration presumably being killed in the process. Afterward, Laura Roslin, the Secretary of Education and the highest-ranking government official to have survived the fall of the colonies, succeeded Adar in the presidency.
