Ressurection Ships are a type of FTL-capable vessel in use by the Cylons following their technological evolution in the years following the Cylon War around the year 40 BCH (YR60) to the end of the Cylon Civil War around the year 3 ACH (YR03). Reverse engineered from technology created by the Thirteenth Tribe stored in the Resurrection Hub, resurrection ships performed the same actions, receiving transmissions from the Humanoid and Raider models and uploading them to the mainframe for other Cylons of that model "wired in" to the network to receive. In the event of a nearby death, the consciousness would also be received and uploaded via the mainframe to new bodies. Due to the great distances between objects in space, there was always a risk that dying would prove permanent, should a resurrection ship not be around to intercept the data.[1]
History[]
First encountered by a Raptor from the Battlestar Pegasus, several months after the Fall of the Twelve Colonies, after it began hunting Cylon fleet which was jumping from system-to-system with natural resources. Unknown to the Pegasus, this fleet was in fact hunting Battlestar Galactica and the accompanying fleet.[2] While plotting an ambush by jumping ahead of said Cylon fleet, the Pegasus encounters the refugee fleet led by the Galactica and after a brief conflict between Commander Adama and Rear Admiral Cain, which resulted in the Standoff Between Galactica and Pegasus, both battlestars executed Starbuck's plan and destroyed both the Ressurection ship and the accompanying fleet, which resulted in possibly the first Cylon casualties of the war.[3] The victory was short-lived however, the Cylons not only didn't stop in their pursuit of The Fleet but also bolstered their offensive by including more basestars in their pursue fleet.
Later, during the Cylon Civil War, all remaining Resurrection ships fall under the command of John Cavil's loyalists and are ordered out of range when the Loyalists engage the Rebel fleet.[4] When the only surviving Rebel Basestar later joins The Fleet, they reveal the location of the Resurrection Hub to the Colonials and mount a joint offensive against it, in order to eliminate Cylons' ability to resurrect. In the aftermath of the Battle of the Resurrection Hub, all remaining Resurrection ships become virtually useless, as they served only as "boosters", while the actual resurrection technology was destroyed with the Resurrection Hub itself.[5]

Notes[]
- Before Gina Inviere, under questioning, revealed the purpose of the Resurrection ship, Adama and Cain speculated that it could be a Raider factory or Command and Control ship
- The design of the Resurrection ship resembles the United States Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel
