Rear Admiral was a flag officer rank used by the Colonial Fleet.[1] Rear Admirals served under Vice Admirals and oversaw one of nine divisions[2]:
- Fleet Helios Alpha
- Fleet Helios Beta
- Fleet Helios Gamma
- Fleet Helios Delta
- Colonial Fleet Replenishment Command
- Colonial Fleet Construction Command
- Colonial Fleet Intelligence Command
- Colonial Fleet Training Command

- She was newly promoted, and still preparing to take command of one of the divisions.
- She was already in command of one of the divisions, and Battlestar Pegasus was her flagship.
- Rear Admiral is the highest permanent rank; all other ranks are tied to the appointment.
