A typical ready room on Galactica.
Pilot ready rooms are facilities used on Colonial warships for conducting pre-flight briefings, which are conducted before any operation. Under a full crew compliment in war-time, battlestars likely had several ready rooms so squadrons could conduct simultaneous briefings. Galactica, which was already run by a skeleton crew at the time of the Fall of the Twelve Colonies, would have had no such need for these rooms.[1]
Purpose[]
Before flying, all pilots involved in a mission - no matter how minor a task - are required to attend a briefing in the pilot ready room, chaired by the CAG or their squadron leader.[2] On older battlestars like Galactica, the room includes whiteboards for displaying important information as well as listing the pilots or squadrons to be flown. Video players can also be used to display footage of previous missions so pilots can learn from old mistakes.[3]
