2004 Continuity

Philomon was a lab technician employed by Graystone Industries. He worked in the U-87 program, which aimed to mass-produce a series of battle robots on behalf of the Caprican military. During his work testing one of the prototype U-87s, which could only show signs of intelligence if the particular head and MCP chip were bonded, Philomon worked on determining why this was so, as the company's contract was in jeopardy if it could not be copied. The reason for this was the MCP chip malfunctioning after the Zoe-A program was installed into it, causing the chip to develop analogue elements that could only function alongside the same chassis, though Philomon spent weeks trying to figure this out. He learnt the truth after speaking with Zoe-A herself in V-World who, rather than reveal she was in control of the robot, offered him ideas to lead him in the right direction. Ultimately, this advice was not enough, as the company was met with a new deadline, and he was threatened with dismissal if he did not instead copy the chip in a process that would destroy it in the process. The U-87 rebelled and, when Philomon sounded the intruder alarm, he was thrown against a pillar and killed.
