Pegasus was a Battlestar attached to the Fifth Fleet. It was believed destroyed in a battle several years prior to the Battle of Cimtar, but had escaped thanks to the brilliance of its Commander, Cain. Following the Fall of the Twelve Colonies, Pegasus made contact with a fleet of refugee ships led by Galactica. It eventually left the fleet to attack a Cylon basestar. Due to the use of nuclear weaponry, its destruction could not be confirmed by Colonial equipment.[1]

Pegasus' fate at the end of The Living Legend, Part II was kept deliberately unexplained due to Glen A. Larson's interest in having it re-appear. However, the episode "The Return of the Pegasus" was never filmed.
