Paradeen is a planet which was settled on by an off-shoot of the Thirteenth Tribe originating from the planet Terra.[1]
History[]
Like other planets colonised by the Terrans, Paradeen had a lower atmospheric density, some 20% that of Terra. Consequently, while it was able to have a thriving farming society with at least one large city, its people were unable to visit the homeworld. During the border wars with its colonial power's enemy, the Eastern Alliance, Paradeen was attacked with a deadly weapon which killed everyone in the city while preserving the buildings. While the colony was survived by its farmers, they were no longer deemed a threat and left alone.[1]
In the early Seventh Millennium, Paradeen was discovered by the crew of Galactica, who came in search of information on Terra. Their arrival alongside a ship transporting Lunar Seven refugees got the attention of an Eastern Alliance destroyer, and the planet was once more under threat. They were soon ambushed by farmers, however, and the colony was saved without casualties.[1]
