(Battlestar Galactica 2004, Caprica and Blood & Chrome)
Admiral Louis Hoshi was an officer in the Colonial Fleet. He was part of Pegasus' CIC crew and escaped the Fall of the Twelve Colonies.[1] After the destruction of Battlestar Pegasus, he transferred to Battlestar Galactica, filling up various roles in the CIC.
Biography[]
During the initial stages of the Cylon attack on the Scorpion Fleet Shipyards, Hoshi is escorting Lieutenant Kendra Shaw to her quarters and explaining the ship's computer network when Battlestar Pegasus is struck, rendering him unconscious. He later resumes duty in the CIC, where he listens to Cain announce the colonies' destruction. Hoshi also assists Shaw by pulling up the security camera feed that reveals a dead Number Six and exposes Gina Inviere as a Cylon agent.[2]
Hoshi manages the wireless communications between Pegasus and her Vipers during the standoff between the two battlestars and during the strike on the Guardian basestar, where he also reports damage control status. He mans the nuclear launch key station when Commander Lee Adama prepares a nuclear strike on the basestar.[2]
After the settlement on New Caprica, Hoshi remains on Pegasus, serving in the CIC when the Cylons force the Fleet to abandon the colony,[3], and following the destruction of Pegasus, he is reassigned to Galactica's CIC.[4] During a standoff with the Cylons above the algae planet, Admiral Adama orders Hoshi to arm missile tubes 4 through 10, threatening to destroy the Temple of Five with nuclear warheads.[5]
Hoshi takes over Lieutenant Gaeta's duties when Gaeta joins Captain Thrace's search for Earth aboard the Demetrius. When the Cylon rebel basestar jumps to the Fleet without the Demetrius, Hoshi relays Admiral Adama's order for an emergency jump and announces when the main batteries have a firing solution on the basestar.[6] Following Lieutenant Dualla's death, Hoshi becomes Galactica's communications officer.[7]
Hoshi's romantic relationship with Felix Gaeta is revealed when he and Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson mount a search-and-rescue mission to find Gaeta's missing Raptor, eventually succeeding. Back on Galactica, Gaeta ends their relationship to protect Hoshi from repercussions stemming from his meeting with Admiral Adama. Unbeknownst to Hoshi, Gaeta is planning a mutiny. Hoshi mistakes Gaeta's sabotage efforts for system glitches. When Gaeta announces he is relieving Adama of command, Hoshi is detained by a mutinying marine.[8]
Despite volunteering for the mission to rescue Hera from The Colony, Hoshi is appointed Fleet Admiral by Adama, should the mission fail. He departs on the last Raptor. Later, on the new planet, he joins Cottle, Tigh, Lee, and Adama in observing the natives. Hoshi returns the Admiral stars to Adama, stating they were "too heavy" and recounting that the happiest day of his life was seeing Adama return.[9]
