Battlestar Galactica 2004, Caprica and Blood & Chrome
Lacy Rand was a Monotheist and priestess on Gemenon. In her teenage years she was a member of Soldiers of the One, a terrorist organisation active on Caprica.
Biography[]
Despite her urban upbringing, Rand earned a scholarship with the prestigious Athena Academy located on the outskirts of Caprica City. In her second or third year at the school, Rand was converted to Monotheism by her close friend Zoe Graystone and her boyfriend Ben Stark. The three kept their conversion secret from their parents. Under the indirect pressures of Sister Clarice Willow, of whom Rand was at the time unaware, the three informally joined Soldiers of The One, a paramilitary which had previously committed bombings on Caprica in the 1930s.
In Rand's third year, Graystone completed work on a computer program which could construct a sentient, digitised version of a human being. The three planned to run away from home and move to Gemenon to live with their fellow Monotheists, but Rand got cold feet and bailed out midway through. Minutes later, Stark detonated a suicide vest on a MagLev train, killing Graystone and dozens of others. This was itself an unsanctioned attack, the result of a split within the STO hierarchy.
