Joseph Adama, born Yoseef Adama, was a criminal defence lawyer from Tauron, though living on Caprica.

Biography[]

Adama was born and raised on Tauron during the Tauron Civil War. His parents, William and Isabelle, were supporters of the Ha'la'tha, a nationalist movement on Tauron which was engaging in war against government forces known as "Heraclitus". During a raid on the house, Isabelle was executed by soldiers and William savagely beaten while Joseph and his brother Sam hid. When the soldiers left, Joseph was forced to euthanise his father with a handgun.[1] Following their deaths, he and Sam were taken as refugees to nearby Caprica and grew up at an orphanage outside Caprica City. On his arrival on Caprica, he cried tears of happiness upon seeing a field of flowering plants. As Tauron itself was known for not having flowers, he was taken aback by natural beauty and was able to stop thinking about the horrors he had seen.[2]

As young men, the Adama brothers moved to Little Tauron, a Caprica City district where the Tauron refugee community thrived together. The two became involved in the Ha'la'tha, one of the factions of the civil war which had devolved into an interplanetary criminal enterprise. Though he himself refused to join, the Ha'la'tha saw great promise in his intelligence and criminal proceeds funded his university law education so that he become a criminal defense lawyer representing Ha'la'tha members.[2] To blend in with the wider Caprican social life, he saw fit to change his name from "Yoseef Adama" to "Joseph Adams", but later became known as "Joseph Adama".
