James McManus was a human refugee who escaped the Fall of the Twelve Colonies on board a fleet of ships led by President Laura Roslin. A newspaper reporter for the Caprica Times, McNamus continued to report on events in the fleet as an independent journalist, and in the month after the Fall formed Colonial Gang with fellow journalists Playa Palacios and Sekou Hamilton, of whom he considered two of the only remaining legitimate journalists in the fleet.[1]
