Battlestar Galactica 2004 Continuity
(Battlestar Galactica 2004, Caprica and Blood & Chrome)

Specialist James "Jammer" Lyman was a deckhand in the Colonial Fleet who escaped the Destruction of the Twelve Colonies on board the Battlestar Galactica.

Biography[]

Lyman escaped the Fall of the Twelve Colonies on Galactica. Some six weeks after the attacks, a Cylon boarding party stormed Galactica. Terrified, Lyman hid inside an arms locker that had already been raided by the Centurions. He was recruited by Cpt. Leland Adama in fighting back the boarding party. In another arms locker, he used his expertise to regain contact with CIC after the phones were taken down, allowing the team to receive new orders to defend the aft fire control. He took part in its defense, which saw the deaths of two marines.[1]

During the colonization of New Caprica, Lyman moved down to the planet to settle. With no ministry or military police force to force AWOL personnel back into the fleet, a large number of crewmembers from Galactica and Pegasus were on the planet when a Cylon fleet arrived. In the four months of occupation, Lyman was more accepting than most of it, seeing the New Caprica Police as a positive force in taking the Centurions off the street, rather than an armed collaborationist mob. When Colonel Saul Tigh's resistance faction stored guns inside a temple, provoking a Centurion response, Lyman was recruited into NCP by a Number Five. In his career there he assisted in the mass-arrest of two hundred suspected resistance fighters and their transportation for mass-execution. Realizing his mistake, he was able to free Specialist Calandra Henderson Tyrol.

After being evacuated to Galactica, confiscated documents identified him as an NCP member, and he was put on trial by The Circle. Despite his pleads to his crewmates, it was determined helping his friend escape did not make up for the other crimes he participated in, and he was subsequently executed by airlocking.
