The Holoband was a sophisticated virtual reality device/computer developed by Graystone Industries.

History[]

Holoband technology was the brainchild of Dr. Daniel Graystone in the 80s BCH and the product that saw the establishment of Graystone Industries as a major consumer electronics business. Over the 70s BCH, Holoband technology became commonplace and was utilized by indie developers, from chat room hosting to video games. Due to lax attitudes by the company on regulating the use, income was dropping by 1942. However, Holoband sales and related software licensing still comprised 60% of the company's net profits.[1] While the subject of various moral panics for years, Holoband sales were noticeably affected by the Mag-Lev bombing in which Dr. Graystone's daughter Zoe Graystone was falsely implicated. The actions the company took action to discontinue Holoband development after OS9.[2]

The holobend was, however, still in use at least ten years after, even during the First Cylon War gene, which saw the Colonial technological regression. Colonial ships not equipped with dedicated war rooms, like the Orion-class assault ship Osiris, used the holoband for mission briefings.[3]

Design[]

Holobands, like glasses, are worn on the user's head and interact with their brain. Through wireless signals, Holoband users across a planet can communicate virtually with others as though in real life, with one server per planet.
