Hector Alonzo was an Earthling farmer who lived in the rural United States.
Biography[]
Alonzo grew up in an unspecified US state west of the Missisippi River, and was part of a Spanish-speaking community descended who had lived in the area since it belonged to New Spain. As an adult Alonzo worked as a farm labourer for John Steadman, a wealthy landowner who held racist views of Hispanic workers. Alonzo and others left to be Smallholders themselves, but were driven out of business by Steadman who manipulated the regulations of the Growers Association to keep rivals out of business.
In 1980, Steadman reluctantly chose to put up half of the farm business up for sale, hoping to bring in a partner to make ends meet that would prevent him selling the land to Steadman. This got the attention of the Galactican fleet, who sent Cpt. Troy and Lieutenant Dillon to purchase the farm as a means of growing food for their refugee population.[2]
