2004 Continuity

Gideon was a civilian cargo ship which escaped the Fall of the Twelve Colonies by joining President Laura Roslin's refugee fleet under the protection of Galactica.

History[]

When President Roslin was arrested for interfering with a military operation, distrust in the military among The Fleet increased. When Colonel Saul Tigh declared martial law and dissolved the Quorum of Twelve, the crew of Gideon objected to their lack of representation in the junta and took part in a boycott of goods. Tigh ordered military personnel to dock with Giden as an intimidatory tactic when confiscating the cargo, but a confrontation with the occupants got out of hand and several civilians were killed in the heat of the moment in what became known as "the Gideon Massacre".[4][5] The events had a lasting impact over the next several weeks, and Colonel Tigh faced two attempts on his life as revenge.[5]

Notes[]

  • Due to data loss, the Battlestar.Wiki team was unable to verify the existance of the original high-detailed 3D file, and therefore considers it a lost media.

  • Atypical for the 2004 series, Gideon lends its name with a Prophet in Jewish mytho-historical texts, rather than Greek mythology seen elsewhere in the fleet.
