Defender-class fleet escort was a type of warship utilized by the Colonial Fleet since the 1st Cylon War up to the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. At some point during its 50-year-long career, some of these ships were sold off to non-military entities as two of them were present in The Fleet led by Galactica, the only surviving military vessel.

Behind the Scenes

• Defender-type is based on a design created by Original Battlestar Galactica series fan Todd "TheHobb" Boyce in 2001
• The CGI model of the Defender was created under the wrong scale during the development of Battlestar Galactica 2004. The CGI team then scaled the model on a case-by-case basis to match scenes as necessary. Therefore, no permanent size can be given. The Wiki chooses to use measurement from Battlestar Galactica 2004, video game: "Battlestar Galactica Deadlock"., as the development and implementation of the Defender-class was with the assistance of the original author, Todd Boyce.
