Synopsis[]
The hijacked Colonial fleet has arrived at Gehenna Prime, where Parrin intends to trade them to the Cylons for enough Tylium to fuel her ships indefinetely. Her former aide, Grust is working together with Starbuck on a plan that involves them wearing sealed spacesuits. Meanwhile, Lucifer confronts Baltar in his Basestar. According to Lucifer, the fuel requested by the Okaati is nothing compared to how much the Cylons have already expended chasing the Colonials. But Baltar refuses to be blackmailed by Parrin and still wants to trade the Okaati to the Comitat in order to have both the Colonials and the precious fuel to himself. Baltar orders the Cylon refueling tanker to be sent forward. When Parrin spots it, she orders her Harvesters to land the human ships on the surface of Gehenna, then retract and depart. Parrin is surprised to see Grust, wearing a spacesuit, outside the window of her ship. Grust begs for her foregiveness and to let her in. In another part of the ship, the airlock is openened to let Grust in, but the Okaati are surprised to see he is joined by Lieutenant Starbuck, who knocks out the first Okaati with his helmet and the second with his fist.
The Colonial ships land in a crater on Gehenna. Tigh realizes it will take some time to reboot all the systems in order to be back in control of them. Cassiopeia notices that several of the humans are already debarking their ships, only to face an army of Cylon Warriors. Parrin has detached her Harvester and leads the rest of her fleet back into space. But they are ambushed by Cylon Raiders. At least one of the Harvesters is destroyed. Then the Galactica arrives with the Comitat fleet. The leader of the Comitat contacts Baltar to say they have brought the Galactica, as promised, and to enquire of the Okaati are with the human fleet. Baltar replies that the Okaati are all on Gehenna, except for a few ships that have tried to leave the planet and have been destroyed by the Cylon Basestars. Parrin realizes there is no escape and that Baltar has betrayed her. Starbuck and Grust arrive on the bridge, where they free Jolly and point their lasers at Parrin. She cannot believe Grust has turned against her. Starbuck and Jolly take the controls of the ship.
On the planet below, Tigh attempts to calm down the panicking Colonials. When Comitat ships land in front of the Cylons, the humans fear the worst. Tigh, Cassiopeia and several Okaati prepare to take a stand against the Comitat. Three armored Comitat jump down onto the planet. Apollo reveals himself to be one of them, and promises Tigh and the Okaati civilians that nobody except the Cylons will be harmed. He then leads the Comitat in a battle against the Cylon Warriors. Aboard the lead Comitat frigate, Adama (also wearing Comitat armor and a helmet to disguise his voice) launches all Vipers and Bladeships for counterstrike. Baltar recognizes Adama and wonders what happened to Thane Korbok. Korbok replies that he demands retribution for the annihilation of the Kiernu. Boomer and Sheba are among the Viper pilots who engage the Cylons. They feel Starbuck is missing out. Starbuck answers at the controls of Parrin's ship and gets an idea. The joint Colonial and Comitat forces attack and destroy all of the Basestars one by one. Baltar and Lucifer manage to escape in a Cylon Raider that doubles as an escape craft.
The Cylon warriors on Gehenna have been defeated. Apollo is reunited with Boxy and Muffit. Boxey explains he was staying with friends on another ship and wonders if he can have Comitat armor too. Adama reports that there is no sign of Baltar, nor Starbuck. But Starbuck soon appers and explains he used a spare Okaati Harvester to stop the Cylon's Tylium tanker from getting away. Parrin begs Adama not to destroy her people, but to leave them on Gehenna instead. To her surprise, she is answered by her mother, Thetis, who is glad to hear her daughter is seeing the error of her ways. As Comitat chair, Adama has the right to decide the fate of the Okaati. He orders all the Thanes to be contacted so he can tell them his solution.
Adama's solution is to have the Okaati settle on the Kiernu Homeworld. It has enough resources to support a civilization, and if the Okaati treat this world better than they did their own, they will never have to go into space again. Parrin and Thetis feel conflicted and responsible for the annihilation of the Kiernu. Adama tells them that by creating a peaceful new society, they will show the spirits of the fallen Kiernu what they have learned. Grust tells Starbuck he plans to open a bar and invites him to drop by sometime. The Comitat also decide to stay on and keep watch over the Okaati. With the fuel Starbuck captured, the Colonial Fleet can depart the Empyrean Expanse once and for all. Parrin invites Adama and his people to stay as well, but he knows they must draw away the CYlons in order to keep the new settlers safe. The Colonial fleet resumes it's quest for Earth.
