Synopsis[]
Aboard his Basestar, Baltar greets Thane Korbok of the Comitat and notes that it took a long time for the Comitat to accept his invitation. Korbok explains that the Comitat has no leader and does not respond to ultimatums. Baltar implies they should band together against their mutual enemies, but Korbok inquires if Baltar, a human, is actually in league with the Colonials. Baltar laughs at this, then orders the Comitat to leave the Colonials and the Okaati alone, and they will both profit. Korbok refuses, saying the Comitat will fight whomever they must, and leaves.
The Colonials and the Okaati are both in need of fuel. But the Okaati know the location of a Cylon outpost where Tylium is being guarded. Starbuck distracts two Cylon Centurions by asking them for a light while Grust sneaks up on them from behind. Grusk tears both of the Cylons apart while Starbuck watches and smokes his fumarello. Several Okaati Harvesters arrive to take the fuel tanks back to the fleet. Apollo returns to the Galactica in his Viper to report to Adama. Parrin reveals she knows the location of another, even larger cache of Tylium that was placed there by a hostile race, the Arunha. With the strenght of the Colonial warriors, it would be easy to take the Tylium from them as well. However, Adama refuses, saying he has no quarrel with the Arunha. If they took their Tylium by force, the Colonials would be no better than the Cylons. Parrin then reveals she was only testing Adama and that now that he has passed it, she will be able to share something that will change humanity's future. She asks him to gather his top engineers for a meeting where she will disclose her news.
When Starbuck learns from Cassiopeia that the humans may be biologically compatible with the Okaati, he runs off to invite Parrin for a drink of Ambrosia. She refuses, saying she has a prior engagement with other 'grown-ups' and suggests he shares a drink with Grust instead. In the meeting room, Parrin proposes to couple the Okaati Harvester ships to all of the civilian vessels in the Colonial fleet, making them capable of matching the Galactica's speed. That way, they can evade any pursuer, be they Cylon or Comitat. A Skeptical Adama asks Flight Sergeant Jolly if this is feasible. Parrin explains that with the Harvesters used as booster rockets, they would lose some maneuverability. However, the combined protection of the Galactica and it's Vipers would make up for this. Apollo realizes that in order to couple the ships, the Colonial vessels would have to surrender command and control to the Okaati harvesters. Starbuck decides to take Grust to the Rising Star. Adama orders Jolly to work directly with the Okaati.
Apollo is suspicious about the alliance with the Okaati. He thinks the Cylon Fuel Dump appeared too new and lightly defended. Colonel Tigh shows Apollo how happy the Colonial citizens have been since the arrivial of the Okaati. Even Adama seems more hopeful than ever. Just when Apollo begins to change his mind and relax, Dr. Wilker runs up to him and tells him the Electronics Team has found something interesting on the Celestra: a Comitat drone ship that crashed into it. The ship's homing beacon is still active, but even it was able to fly, it would not have enough fuel to return to the Comitat Frigate at this point. Apollo suggests attaching the homing system to a Colonial Viper instead.
Athena learns from Rigel that Apollo took a training squadron out on aft patrol, and that Apollo himself broke off from the pack. Athena contacts her brother, who took twice as much fuel as usual on this trip. They lose contact when Apollo enters the nebula. Apollo attempts to contact the Comitat, saying he comes in peace. He knows their Drone Fighters never intended to harm the Okaati fleet and guesses they won't harm him either. But when he reaches the imposing Comitat fleet, they answer him, saying they are finished talking to humans and he will be sentenced immediately.
