Carillon‏‎ was a planet located some distance away from the Twelve Colonies of Man, separated by the Nova of Magadon. Carillon was part of a series of protectorates of the Cylon Empire known as the "Cylon Alliance". The planet was settled on by Ovions, an insectoid race.

History

How long Carillon was occupied by the Ovions is uncertain, though it appears they were part of the Cylon Alliance for a number of years. When the colonial government expressed interest in exploiting Carillon for tylium mining, Count Baltar falsified reports of there being only trace amounts available. Whether this was passed on to the Ovions or was already known is uncertain, but by the time of the Battle of Cimtar heavy mining of tylium was underway. Taking advantage of the Galacticans' disinterest in Carillon, the Ovions constructed a large hotel and casino on the planet, which they used to lure Galactican civilians, who they then consumed as a food source. Unable to digest Galactican dishes, they purchased large quantities of food only to fatten them up.

Following the Battle of Cimtar, a large refugee fleet arrived in orbit in search of what tylium they could find. The welcoming party was discovered by the Ovions, who extended their welcome to the Galacticans and encouraged visiting the surface. The unexpected source of food and tylium got the attention of Galactica's Warriors, who suspected an ulterior motive. The deception was soon unmasked when the Cylon occupation force made themselves known. A Basestar moved off to intercept the fleet, having received reports of their activities. The fighting soon ignited the tylium fuel in storage, sending out a powerful blast that destroyed the Basestar as it lowered into orbit.
