The Berzerk-class was a type of support vessel used by the Colonials during the Cylon War[2] up to the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. This class of vessel was one of the largest non-battlestar ships in the Colonial Fleet and served for many years. Its success was attributed to its detachable multi-mission package modules, which were stored in the mid-section of the hull.[3] The vessel had five of these modules, allowing it to perform various tasks.
Design[]
Armament[]
The primary armament consists of 10 Main Dual kinetic energy weapons (KEW) placed in the mid-section of the hull in interchangeable pods. Unlike the main batteries on Jupiter or Mercury-class, these weapons appear to be similar to the caliber seen on Valkyrie-type, although in significantly lower numbers. It is currently unknown if they can fire ship-to-ship missiles as their Valkyrie-based counterparts.
Defenses[]
As with many other Colonial vessels, the Berzerk-class dual-layered vessel consists of active close-in weapon system (CIWS) and passive armor. 10 CIWS batteries spread around the multi-mission package quite limited defensive arch, forcing the class to rely heavily on its fighter complement for effective anti-fighter defense.
Fighter Complement[]
While the exact fighter complement is unknown, it can be deduced that with ten launch tubes, the Berzerk-class would carry at least ten fighters with additional hulls in reserve. With a hangar bay width of 64 meters and height of 15.3, the Berzerk can comfortably accommodate Colonial raptors and shuttles but is unlikely to accommodate SCT-type[4] transports.
Crew[]
Little is known about the crew size of Berzerk-class escorts; it can be summarized in upper hundreds rather than thousands carried by Jupiter and Mercury battlestars. Considering the ship is a relic from the Cylon War, the crew requirements would have been reduced significantly during the interwar period, as significant automation was implemented fleet-wide.
Propulsion[]
The Berzerk-class is propelled by five sublight engines located at the back section of the ship. In addition to these main engines, smaller maneuvering thrusters are scattered throughout the ship, allowing quick and agile movements during combat scenarios. To enable faster-than-light travel, at least one FTL (Faster-Than-Light) drive is installed aboard.
Known Ships[]

- 2 Unknown Berzerk-class Fleet Escorts (Destroyed over Scorpia)
- 3 Unknown Berzerk-class Fleet Escorts taking part in Ghost Fleet Offensive
Notes[]
- During the Attack on Scorpion Fleet Shipyards, Berzerk-class can be seen in two various sizes. Considering the official scale; the larger one should be considered a VFX mistake.
- Berzerk-class was designed by Charles Oines.
