Synopsis[]

Apollo reports in his Combat Log that he has been in this divergent reality for three month and has no idea what happened to Starbuck. On the planet Equellus, the Cylon Centurion known as Red Eye sentences several humans to death by hanging, including Lacerta, who previously collaborated with the Cylons. While riding an armored unicorn, Red Eye orders all human children to be sent to Doctor Zee's experimentation camps. A young woman named Vella tries to stop the Cylons from taking her son, Pupis. Red Eye aims his laser riffle at her, but before he can fire, his head is shot off by Apollo, wearing oviner garb and backed up by several other Colonial guerillas such as Boomer. A firefight breaks out, during which Apollo asks for air cover from a squadron of Vipers. Serina is piloting Apollo's Temporal Warper equiped Viper. The liberated humans of Equellus are instructed to board a Cargo ship that whill take them to a safe place. Serina hands over command of the Viper to Apollo so he can lead the Cargo ship to it's new destination. Inside, Pupis gazes at Apollo's Viper with awe during the flight. Apollo reports in his Log that this liberation has been in the planning for weeks.

They return to the guerilla's base, on the planetoid now known as 'Cashe'. Apollo is greeted by Adama, whom he considers his father, despite being from a reality in which he himself perished years earlier. Adama reports that another party lead by a fumarello-smoking pirate character hit a Basestar three months earlier and the Cylons have been scouring the sector for him ever since. Apollo has a feeling he knows who this character might be. Meanwhile, two different versions of Starbuck are aboard the Battlestar Galactica. Bearded, out of shape Captain Starbuck is in command, and uses a sensor shield to hide from a patrol of Cylon Raiders. The trimmer and clean shaven Lieutenant Starbuck is feeling edgy about having been in hiding on an immobile Battlestar ever since their escape from Baltifer's Basestar. While the Captain is conent to drink and smoke on the bridge of the Galactica, the lieutenant storms off in a huff, saying he'd never give up on his species.

Lieutenant Starbuck is tinkering on his modified Viper when he sees his other self entering a secret door. He is easily able to access the door as both Starbucks share the same dna, and is startled to find a trophy room filled with stripped down and reverse engineered Cylon parts, including the torso of an Imperial Leader. He is found by Capt. Starbuck, who explains they have been using the corpse of the Leader to create their anti-cylon weapons, including the disruption signal and the sensor shield. The Captain offers the Lieutenant a fumarillo and admits he used to have loftier aspirations, but he was forced to make touch choices to keep his crew alive. Lieutenant Starbuck reveals that he know the location of a major Colonial q-cache he was heading for before the Cylon captured him. This interests the Captain, and the Lieutenant promises him he can have all the cache supplies if he helps him find Apollo by activating his Vipers emergency locator. The Captain agrees, and shortly, Apollo receives Starbuck's signal on a Colonial emergency frequency. As soon as the Galactica starts to move, Baltifer's Basestar arrives by way of a Temporal Warp Hole. Aboard, Dr. Zee informs Baltifer that the Temporal Warp Drive he reverse engineerd using data extracted from the captured Viper has worked perfectly. They have honed in on the signal coming from Starbuck's modified Viper. Captain Starbuck orders the Sensor Shield activated and manages to hide the Battlestar from Baltifer just in time, even though Lieutenant Starbuck insists on engaging it. However, the Basestar does pick up a corresponding signal coming from Apollo's Viper. Now Baltifer can finally locate and attack the base camp of the human resistance.

On Cache, Apollo apologizes for the turn of events as Adama blames him for blowing their cover. Baltifer appears on a viewscreen, greeting Adama and expressing his surprise to see Apollo present. Baltifer orders the Colonials to surrender and reveal the location of the invisible Battlestar. To demonstrate his power, he has his Basestar fire it's Chronal Cannons at the planetoid. These temporal weapons cause the planetoid's tectonic plates to reset themselves to a more ancient pattern. He orders Adama and Apollo to surrender to him and the two of them hurry to Apollo's Viper and use it to travel to the Basestar despite Boomer and Serina's objections. Aboard the Galactica, Lieutenant Starbuck wants to intervene, but is knocked out by one of Captain Starbuck's men, using the butt of his gun to clobber him. Baltifer welcomes Adama and Apollo in his throne room and asks Zee if he has any idea how Apollo could have survived the destruction of the Pegasus at Caprica. Zee concludes that this Apollo must have come from a divergent timeline, but neither of the Colonials will reply if this is true. Baltifer orders the planetoid below to be destroyed. Adama and Apollo object to Baltifer breaking his own word, but Baltifer replies that he only promised not to use the temporarl weapons again. Instead he will launch the full force of his Basestar's Raiders and use them to destroy every trace of humanity on Cache.

Notes[]

  • The opening sequence takes place on the divergent reality version of the planet Equellus from the original series episode The Lost Warrior. Several characters from this episode, including Red Eye, Lacerta, Vella and Pupis make brief appearances.
    • Pupis does not appear to have aged, even though Adama's beard and the presence of Zee indicates that some time has past since that in which the original series took place.
  • The armored unicorn Red Eye is seen riding appears to be inspired by the unicorns seen in the episode The Young Lords.
  • Serina and Apollo both refer to Cylons as 'Toasters', a habit from the re-imagined series rather than the classic version.
  • Apollo uses the Earth measurement of time 'weeks' instead of 'sectons'. Both he and Adama also use the word 'month.'
