Synopsis[]

Starbuck is holding the dead body of Stadra in his arms. He drops to the ground and fires his laser pistol at the ceiling to release large amount of liquid to confuse the golden Cylon Centurions advancing towards him. In the launge, Apollo has already learned of the fire alarm when Starbuck arrives and tells him there are Cylons aboard the Galactica. Adama tells everyone to calm down. Apollo asks Dwyer to get the women and children, including Boxey, to the third hanger in the supply vault. But when they reach the door, Centurions are already standing in their way and one of the shoots and kills Dwyer. Starbuck and Apollo opens fire at the Cylons while Athena grabs Dwyer's pistol and joins them.

Tigh is watching the mayhem all aboard the ship on monitors when the IL unit and several Centurions enter the bridge. The unit tells Tigh he is taking over command. He orders Tigh to open a communications line. When the Colonel refuses, the Cylons start killing the bridge personell one by one. Tigh tells Rigel to do what the IL says. The Cylon explains that it was his plan that brought them onto the Galacticaand that it has succeeded with less Cylons than anticipated. He know intends to contact the rest of the Cylon fleet.

Still stuck in the lounge, Adama has a plan to evacuate anyone without a weapon trough a filtration vent. He asks Apollo to provide a diversion. Apollo orders all weapon carrying Colonials to fire at the Centurions, so that Adama can lead several of the women, children and Daggits to safety. The Colonials manage to push the Cylons backwards, and Apollo closes a door on them, leading to one of the Cylons to be decapitated and it's weapon cut in half. Athena and Cassiopeia take Boxey and Jatu to the supply vault. One Daggit stays with the warriors. Apollo wants his father to join them, but Adama refuses and takes out a pistol. Apollo asks for his father's orders, and is told to reroup in the lounge. Freg inquires if Stadra made it safely to her quarters, but Starbuck tells him she was the first to die at the Cylon's hands. Freg wants to take the fight to the Cylons personally, but Adama takes him aside and reasons with him. Starbuck is surprised to see Freg leave after all, but Adama tells Starbuck to let him go.

Boomer uses security cameras on the bridge to learn that the bridge has been taken by the Cylons. Adama looks outside the window to see a Basestar has found them and Cylon Raiders are attacking the Colonial Fleet. Adama asks Boomer to connect him to the ship wide emergency com. He tells the Colonials about the bridge and the Basestar and orders all Viper pilots to deploy by any means necessary. All the able pilots rush to their deployment stations and launch to defend the fleet. Despite his bandaged eye, Boomer manages to destroy three Raiders in one pass. Left alone with the Daggit, Adama is captured and taken to the bridge. The IL unit tells him the humans are grossly outnumbered and that his Cylon pilots are superior. Adama orders the ship's self dectruct protocol to engage by giving his personal code. He thanks the IL for allowing him onto the bridge so he could set this final trap for the Cylons.

In his Viper, Boomer realizes the Galactica is about to self-destruct. Apollo decides that the Vipers must keep protecting the fleet and cannot return to the Battlestar. The Cylon Centurions decide to evacuate the ship. IL orders Adama to be killed rather than die in the blast. A golden Centurion holds aloft his weapon in order to stab Adama to death, but suddenly there is another explosion and Freg bursts onto the bridge, firing his laser gun. He destorys the Centurions, the IL flees and unties Adama, who cancels the self-destruct command. Freg reveals he had a hard time finding the munitions room. In space, Starbuck notices that the Cylons are trying to escape in the personnel transport and Boomer notices that self-dectruct has been aborted. He suspects Adama is executing a plan he didn't inform them about. Aboard the transport, the IL unit is reporting to an Imperious Leader, who grants permission to return to the Basestar. A stowaway Daggit aboard the carrier self-destructs, taking the entire ship and a large section of the Cylon Basestar with it.

The Viper pilots are amazed by the ingenuity of Adama's plan. Their Commander tells them to clear out the remaining Cylons so the fleet can leave the area as soon as possible. The Vipers make short work of the remaining Raiders. Later, in Adama's office, Jatu asks Freg if she is allowed to play with Boxey and Muffet. Freg agrees and Adama asks him to sit down. He tells Freg that he too has recently lost his wife and son. Adama knew that Freg was the only one he could trust not to object to his dangerous plan, and that by following his orders, Freg saved all of the fleet. Starbuck is mourning Stadra in his cabin. Boomer tries to cheer his friend up, but Starbuck insists that he leaves him alone with his drink and cigar. Both of them hope that the worst is behind them.
