Synopsis[]

It is two Yahrens before the attack at Cimtar. Apollo is angry at Starbuck after he failed to show up for a patrol and is reportedly taking aboard the Gambling Barge Erin Dream ' headed back to Caprica. Adama and Zac inform Apollo that Starbuck's foster parents were killed during an attack on Scorpia. Starbuck attempts to forget his sorrows at the Astral Utopia casino on Caprica, but is confronted by a woman he scorned, Kandi. Two bouncers try to thrown him out with force, but Apollo and Zac appear, brandishing their Colonial weapons. They take Starbuck back to the Galactica where they submit him to a cold shower. When Starbuck laments having been orphaned twice now, Apollo gets aggitated, saying that his family treats Starbuck as one of their own. Starbuck finds the corupted data chip that was supposed to hold information about the attack on Umbra and asks Boomer to put it through the Aerian datanet.

On the Aerian Adminstration Hub in orbit around the planet Aeries, Quorum member Osiris is informed by his daughter Diana there is an active search on the datanet relating to Umbra. Boomer manages to open up a video file, but is interrupted by a sound and goes to investigate. He finds a time bomb and is thown across the room by it's explosion. Boomer is taken to the Galactica's medical bay and put in a medical coma to recover. Adama places Apollo in charge of the investigation. Starbuck blames himself, informing Apollo about the data chip Boomer was trying to decrypt. They recover the detonator at the damaged server room, but are fired upon by an unknown assailant. They chase their attacker, whom Starbuck recognizes as a female, but she escapes at the busy transport hub.

Osiris is displeased to hear his daughter perfomed several acts of terrorism upon a Colonial Battlestar. Diana reveals that Starbuck was the owner of the data chip, and that he is still in posession of the pendant that used to house the chip. She has arranged for the Cylons to attack Starbuck during his next patrol. Osiris says that should Starbuck survive this encounter, he wants to meet with him. Apollo and Starbuck are indeed attacked by three Cylon Raiders, but manage to destroy two of them. Back aboard the Galactica, Jolly informs Starbuck that Councilor Osiris desires to speak with him. Already suspecting that the bomb was probably planted by an Aerian, Apollo offers to go with him, but Starbuck travels to the Aerian Adminstration Hub alone.

Diana welcomes Starbuck to the hub, who notes that she looks familiar. Osiris offers Starbuck his condolances regarding his foster parents and then boasts that his humidor has the finest fumerellos in the Colonies. When Osiris shows extreme interested in Starbuck's pendant, Starbuck brings up the night the Cylons raided Umbra. Osiris feels implicated and loses his temper. After Starbuck leaves, Osiris decides that Starbuck must be dealt with and McKintosh's data recovered. Diana has collected Starbuck's fingerprints and DNA (from the remains of a fumerello) and will use them to frame him for murder. She goes to the Astral Utopia casino on Caprica and arranges for Kandi to be called outside to meet 'Starbuck'. Diana kills Kandi in cold blood. Meanwhile, Starbuck informs Apollo about his meeting while flying his Viper back to the Galactica, saying that he has a "really good feeling about today."
