Synopsis[]

Omega reports to Commander Adama that the bio-weapon has already contaminated over fifteen percent of the Cylon world. All Viper squads have returned, and Adama orders the drives to initiate light speed. But Apollo objects, saying they still have men down there. Adama tells him that Athena has been scanning for Starbuck, but there is not a single Colonial signal to be found. Apollo swears. The Galactica jumps to light speed. On the planet below, Starbuck awakes and finds no signal on his transponder. He finds himself in a tall building in the city of Tessida and a Cylon Mainframe Security Patrol is at the door, orderning him to open it at once. Three Centurions enter the room, but Starbuck uses a grappel line to jump out of the window while firing his laser pistol at them.

In the pilots quarters aboard the Galactica, Apollo presents a toast to Starbuck. A red alert sounds off, and Apollo is called to core command. There, he is informed by Adama that a Cylon fleet including four Basestars is on the way, and will arrive at the planet in less than 24 centars. Apollo suggests to get the fleet to the Canopus Wormhole immediately. Adama agrees. Once they have all passed through, they will detonate a gravitic warhead and collapse the wormhole. Back on the planet, Starbuck is on the streets, fighting off virus infected Cylon Centurions. One of them attacks with his sword. After shooting him, Starbuck takes the weapon for himself. He defeats a large number of attackers, then uses his grappel line to pull himself up onto the roof of a building where he finds a Cylon communcations array.

Regent Abbadon is informed by a Cylon citizen that the Imperious Leader wishes to contact him. Abbadon refuses the transmission, which a silver Centurion sees as an act of treason. The regent interrups the Centurion, saying that leader Barkol has already dispatched a fleet to destroy them. He orders a golden Centurion to gather all of the troops he can and escort him to the mainframe's fusion core. The Centurion replies that they will all succomb to the virus if they leave the chamber they are in, but the Viceroy replies that their destruction is inevitable at this point. Starbuck has established an uplink and engaged an automated message calling the Galactica. He notices the power on his laser weapon is almost empty and wonders why Apollo hasn't come back for him yet. Infected Cylon Centurions as well as citizens climb up onto the building and attack Starbuck. As he fights them off, one Centurion crashes into the communcations array and destoys it.

Regent Abbadon prepares to leave his safe location and venture to the Mainframe Fusion Core. He is certain he only needs centons to complete his plan. His Centurion bodyguards fend off infected Cylons as along the way. Starbuck's pistol has depleted all it's power. He uses the Centurion's sword to defend himself. Abbadon engages a planet wide fusion core overload using an emergency anniihilation protocol, saying they will die with honor and take the infidel's creation with them. Starbuck is overtaken by infected Cylons, but at the last moment, Apollo, Sheba and Jolly arrive on the scene and save him. They take him to a shuttle piloted by Boomer, who reads a massive power spike from the Cylon grid and concludes that it is going to blow. They manage to fly away just in time.

Starbuck awakes to see Nurse Cassiopeia watching over him. She informs him he survived on the planet for over twelve centars, and has a lot of healing to do. When the fleet picked up Starbuck's transmission, half the fleet volunteered to rescue him. Cassiopeia knew he would also need medical attention. Starbuck reminds her that he wanted to ask her something before the mission began, but she reminds him first tht he will survive this and still has many years ahead of him. He decides not to ask the question but rest instead. The shuttle docks in the Galactica, still waiting at the mouth of the wormhole. Adama reflects on the terrible war that he has just fought to get to this point and wonders if they have to face judgement for their acts.
