The Chronos was a Chronos-type battlestar in service of the Colonial Fleet during the interwar period. She was the first battlestar destroyed by enemy fire in almost 40 years, only several days before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies.

History

Several days before the Fall, the Colonial Fleet picked up a faint signal from Lieutenant Daniel Novacek, who was lost several years earlier in a stealth reconnaissance mission across the Cylon border. The Battlestar Chronos was dispatched to check on the signal and rescue Novacek if possible. During the mission, the Chronos came under attack from Cylon forces, presumably testing their CNP override, which was only now coming online on most Colonial vessels.

After the Chronos missed its check-in with Colonial Fleet Command, the Battlestar Pegasus was dispatched to render assistance if needed. However, it also fell into the Cylon trap and was attacked immediately after jumping into the theatre. During the subsequent battle, the Chronos was hit by several nuclear warheads, causing it to tear apart.
