The Battle of Carillon was an engagement between the remains of the Colonial military and the Cylon Alliance. The strategic success of Colonial forces ensured the survival of its refugee fleet, and the death of the Imperious Leader forced an emergency regime change.

The previous Battle of Cimtar resulted in the destruction and subsequent abandonment of the Twelve Colonies of Man. Low on basic supplies such as food, the refugee fleet led by Galactica made their way to Carillon in search of supplies, unaware it was a planet in the Cylon Alliance.
