Barnabas Greeley was a Caprican Monotheist who was a Soldiers of the One cell commander. Greeley was behind a number of unsanctioned bombings in 1942, and was executed by the STO for it.

Biography[]

Following the STO campaign of the early 1930s, the STO returned underground and slowed down on its campaigns across the Twelve Worlds, confining itself largely to defending the Church on Gemenon. All STO cells on Caprica were under the overall control of Sister Clarice Willow, who advocated the continuation of this underground behaviour to favour conversion of new recruits. Greeley loathed the STO's position, and by 1942 had set about plans to cause widespread chaos on Caprica, ostensibly to force conversion through fear.

Among Greeley's initial recruits were Ben Stark and Keon Gatwick, students at Athena Academy whose religious beliefs were shaped by Willow. Greeley ordered Stark to perform a suicide bombing on a Maglev train, using one of Gatwick's bombs, bringing about the first in a series of attacks. A number of non-fatal attacks followed this, largely against Holo cafés. After several weeks, his cell had expanded to include recruits Lacy Rand, Pann and Hippolyta from Athena Academy, among others recruited from STO cells. These bombings finally caught the attention of Sister Willow, who realised Greeley's campaign had the additional motive of persuading the STO hierarchy a new campaign should be sanctioned and for him to lead the fighting on Caprica. Greeley attempted to have Sister Willow killed in a car-bombing before she could depart to Gemenon, but this operation was unsuccessful. She returned following a failed attack on a space port which exposed the cell to the GDD, and began executing members. Greeley himself was forced into hiding in an unfinished skyscraper with Rand and Gatwick, who he had fashion a bomb to use against Willow. Gatwick quit the cell, and was immediately executed. Sister Willow and her husband Tyrone entered the building and took Rand hostage, and executed Greeley by tying him up to Gatwick's bomb, with it setting off as they left.
