The algae planet was a planet habitable for human life. Orbiting a dying star near a stellar cluster,[1] the planet was at risk of being destroyed in a supernova. Despite this, it was briefly settled on by the Thirteenth Tribe, who built a temple within a mountain to observe a supernova some 13,000ly away in what is now the Ionian nebula. After an unknown length of settlement, the Thirteenth Tribe continued onwards to later settle on Earth.
Around the year 2002, some 3600 years later, the algae planet was visited by human refugees from the Cyrannus star system, who desperately needed the planet for its abundance of algae.[2] During this visit, a standoff ensued with a Cylon Basestar searching for the temple as a roadmap to Earth. Hours into the standoff, the nearby star went supernova, destroying the algae planet.[3]
