(Battlestar Galactica 2004, Caprica and Blood & Chrome)
Captain Aaron Kelly was a Landing Signals Officer stationed on Galactica, as well as third-in-command, ranking just behind Commander Adama and Colonel Tigh. As Galactica's LSO, he was responsible for flight operation, including navigating incoming ships for landing.[1]
Biography[]
Immediately after nuclear strike on Galactica, Aaron Kelly tried to assume command of damage control teams, after Colonel Tigh froze mid-decision. His orders were however countermanded by Tigh soon after. Captain Kelly is later shown walking alongside dead bodies of fallen crewmembers, collecting their dog tags.
Several months after the fall, Captain Kelly assumed the role of Executive Officer after Lieutenant Sharon Valerii shot Commander Adama after completing successful nuclear strike on basestar orbiting Kobol. In his function, Kelly objected in networking Battlestar Galactica, but is once again overwritten by Tigh. After Commanders Adama recovery, Captain Kelly returns to his position as LSO.[2]
At some point after President Baltar announced his colonization of New Caprica, Captain Kelly replaced Lieutenant Gaeta as Galactica's tactical officer, staying in this role until the Liberation of New Caprica. Similar to many, Aaron Kelly blamed Gaius Baltar for the loss of life on New Caprica, during the Cylon occupation, and during Baltar's trial he committed series of terrorist attacks, trying to assassinate him. When cough, Aaron Kelly confesses he can no longer handle the stress of sending people to their deaths and would continue the bombing unless jailed.
Following Lieutenant Gaeta's mutiny, Captain Kelly is seen leading marine team in pursuit of Admiral Adama and Colonel Tigh. He later commands marines who assassinate the Quorum of Twelve on Colonial One, causing him to doubt the mutiny. This ultimately leaves him to spare Galen Tyrol and have mental breakdown in the memorial hallway where he is ultimately found by Lee Adama and his resistance group. Kellys dissolution with the mutiny leads him to defect and inform Captain Adama about his father's impending execution. He later joins the forces of rescued Admiral Adama and help in retaking the Galactica.[3]
